Mykonos accepts two school allocations totalling €79,454

€51,744 is earmarked for cleaning payroll through December 2026 and €27,710 for school operating costs. The two decisions establish acceptance of funding, with implementation still to be traced.

Funding accepted by the Municipal Committee

Two decisions, two purposes

Mykonos Municipal Committee has unanimously accepted two allocations for the island’s schools: €51,744 for cleaning staff payroll and €27,710 for operating expenses. Both decisions were taken on 8 September and appeared in the municipality’s online archive on 14 September.

Their combined value is €79,454. This is the sum of these two specific allocations, not a statement of the island’s full education budget. Reading the decisions together shows which needs each amount is intended to meet.

Cleaning payroll through December

Decision 220/2026 accepts €51,744 for the pay of school cleaning staff employed on fixed-term private-law contracts. It refers to the 2026–27 teaching year but expressly limits this allocation’s covered period to December 2026. The reference to a school year therefore does not make it funding for that entire year.

The decision cites an Interior Ministry allocation dated 26 August. It does not specify a new recruitment round, a number of cleaners appointed or completed payroll payments. Those would require separate implementation records.

A separate allocation for running schools

Decision 218/2026 accepts €27,710 from the third 2026 distribution of Central Autonomous Resources for school operating expenses. This has a different purpose from the cleaning payroll allocation. The document does not give an allocation by school or an itemised spending plan.

Both decisions authorise the mayor to take the further lawful steps. For families and school communities, the next useful information is how these resources are allocated and used. Acceptance is the documented administrative step; payment dates, actual expenditure and service delivery are separate questions.
