MYKONOS NOIR

Editorial Standards & Sources

Evidence, independence and a clear distinction between fact and interpretation.

Last updated:

Our editorial remit

Mykonos Noir covers island news, culture, hospitality, gastronomy, events, Delos and developments shaping Mykonos. Selection is based on relevance and evidence. News is renewed as developments warrant; features and useful reference material remain in a dated archive. English and Greek editions should preserve the same factual meaning.

Source hierarchy and verification

We favour original documents, public decisions, responsible institutions and direct organiser or operator statements; reliable trade and local reporting adds context. A promotional announcement supports what its issuer announced, not independent proof of every claim. We link the specific source, record dates and distinguish an announcement from an opening, approval, completion or current availability. Multiple reports repeating one release do not become independent confirmations.

Facts, reports and interpretation

Confirmed means supported by a named responsible or institutional source. Reported identifies attributed coverage. On the radar marks a question or emerging development, not an established fact. Editorial interpretation explains significance and must remain distinguishable from evidence. The Rumors column follows the same rules: its name does not excuse unsupported allegations or intrusion into private life.

Commercial clarity and conflicts

Sponsored content must be clearly labelled where it appears. Material commercial relationships, hosted visits or benefits relevant to coverage should be disclosed. Payment, a gift or a submission does not guarantee favourable reporting. Advertiser requests do not justify suppressing a supported correction. Any future affiliate link must disclose the potential commission next to the relevant content.

People, images and editorial tools

We consider public interest, proportionality, privacy and the opportunity to respond when reporting material allegations. Unverified personal rumours are not treated as facts. Images require provenance and an appropriate basis of use. Research, translation or drafting tools, including AI, are not sources of factual proof; their output requires editorial checking. Material synthetic depictions must not be presented as documentary photographs of real events.
