Scope and privacy contact
This notice covers mykonosnoir.com and mykonosnoir.gr, including their Greek edition. Privacy requests can be sent to info@mykonosnoir.com. External websites have their own privacy notices.
Reading and site security
You can read without an account. Delivering pages requires network and technical data, including an IP address, requested address, time and browser information. Cloudflare provides hosting, content delivery and security through the Sites platform. Technical logs and anti-abuse processing help deliver and protect the service; our basis for this necessary processing is the legitimate interest in operating a secure publication.
We do not install our own advertising pixels or audience-analytics trackers. Necessary security cookies and browser storage are described in the Cookie Policy. Optional external maps remain disabled until you choose to enable their provider.
Contact and corrections
The contact form sends your name, email, subject, enquiry type and full message to the editorial inbox through FormSubmit. The inbox is hosted by Gmail. We use these details to handle the enquiry and reply, based on our legitimate interest in editorial correspondence. Sending a message does not subscribe you to the newsletter or create a public profile.
After validation by our server, your browser sends the message directly to FormSubmit using a recipient alias. FormSubmit receives the submitted details and network information needed for delivery. The AJAX request omits cookies and does not load provider scripts. Without JavaScript, a confirmation step opens the provider’s submission page, which may use its own security checks. FormSubmit states that it retains submissions for 30 days. Messages received in the editorial mailbox follow the correspondence-retention criteria below. Provider processing may take place outside the EEA; see their privacy information. Our site database keeps temporary network-address hashes and attempt counts to limit spam. These records contain no message text, contact email or raw IP. They expire within ten minutes and are cleared on later valid attempts.
Please send only information needed for your request. Avoid identity documents, passwords or sensitive information about yourself or others. Ordinary email is not a secure anonymous whistleblowing channel. Contact us first to discuss a sensitive submission.
Providers and international processing
Infrastructure providers process technical information needed to host and secure the site; access to the subscriber list is restricted to authorised administration. Enabled OpenStreetMap and VesselFinder content connects your browser directly to those providers. They receive network and device information and apply their own policies. Our servers retrieve weather and travel-board data without sending the visitor’s IP address to those data sources.
Providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Cloudflare describes its international processing and transfer safeguards in its privacy policy. We do not promise exclusive storage in Greece or the EU. Information may also be disclosed where a valid legal obligation requires it. We do not use your subscription for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Retention and editorial records
Correspondence is retained only as needed to handle the request, follow up and establish or defend legal claims. Retention depends on whether the matter is closed, a correction needs an evidence trail, or a legal obligation applies. Hosting and email-provider logs and backups follow the relevant service’s retention settings; deletion from an active list does not itself erase every provider backup. Published source references and dated corrections may remain as part of the editorial archive, subject to applicable rights and journalistic protections.
Your rights
Depending on the processing, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw newsletter or map consent at any time. Send requests to info@mykonosnoir.com, describing the matter; we may need proportionate information to verify a request. Requests are normally answered within one month; a lawful extension, where needed, must be explained within that month. Rights are subject to applicable exceptions, including freedom of expression and information.
You may complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority or the competent supervisory authority where you live or work. You do not need to contact us first to exercise that right. Material changes to this notice will be dated here, and fresh consent will be requested where required.
Journalists and contributor proposals
The Write for Mykonos Noir form stores your name, contact email, short bio, topics and areas covered, work-sample links, working languages, main location and availability. We also record submission time, language and the privacy-notice version acknowledged. Your proposal is kept privately in our Cloudflare D1 database for authorised editorial review; it is not a public contributor profile and does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
The purpose is to assess the proposed collaboration and contact you about it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in evaluating proposals voluntarily submitted to the publication. The required checkbox acknowledges this notice; it is not permission for marketing or for publishing your work. Submit existing public work links, not identity documents or sensitive personal information. Links are stored for review; this form does not upload files or automatically fetch the linked pages.
We retain a proposal while it is being evaluated or a relevant discussion remains open, and remove it when it is no longer needed for that purpose, subject to a specific legal retention requirement or claim. Unsuccessful proposals should not be kept indefinitely as an unrelated contact list. You can ask for access, correction or deletion, or object to this processing, at info@mykonosnoir.com. Temporary anti-abuse records use a ten-minute network-address hash; they expire at the end of that period and are cleared on subsequent valid attempts. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the proposal record.
