Berthing in Mykonos: booking deadlines and how the fees are calculated

A request does not secure a berth. Reading the Port Fund’s booking conditions alongside its linked tariff decisions explains the two 24-hour deadlines, the catamaran supplement and why a daily rate is not the whole bill.

From application to an accepted booking

The Mykonos Port Fund accepts online berth requests for arrivals within the next 30 days. Submission is only the first step: the Fund checks the documents and retains discretion over acceptance. An application should therefore not be treated as an available berth or used as confirmation of a stay.

Two different 24-hour periods follow. Payment is due within 24 hours of approval; the published conditions say the position is cancelled if that deadline is missed. Online check-in becomes available 24 hours before arrival. These are separate stages, not interchangeable deadlines. The conditions also state that payment is not refunded for a no-show or a cancellation by the applicant after approval and payment.

The port depends on the vessel

The conditions assign motor boats, sailing boats and RIBs under 25 metres in overall length to Tourlos, the New Port. They describe the Old Port in Chora as accepting motor yachts over 25 metres, with sailing boats prohibited there regardless of size. The wording does not assign a vessel exactly 25 metres long to either category; that boundary needs clarification from the Fund rather than an assumed rounding rule.

For berth enquiries, the Fund specifies marina@mykonosports.gr. Its published arrival and movement instructions must also be checked before a passage; a booking is not a substitute for the required port instructions or clearance.

Read the tariff decision as well as the short table

The marina page links the 2021 tariff amendment, published in Government Gazette B 3013 on 8 July 2021. Its paragraph B.2 adds 100% to the corresponding category’s charge for catamarans with two connected hulls. That supplement is not displayed in the webpage’s short tariff table, so reading the table alone can miss a material part of the calculation.

The Gazette also sets the order of calculation: multiply the annual rate per metre by the vessel’s length, divide by 365, then round the result to two decimal places. For an ordinary 12-metre private monohull moored stern-to, the €170 annual rate gives €170 × 12 ÷ 365 = €5.59 for the basic daily fee, before VAT or other applicable charges. Multiplying the webpage’s already-rounded €0.47 daily rate by 12 would instead give €5.64. The example illustrates the formula; it is not a quote for a particular booking.

What is outside that example

The linked 2014 decision adds 25% for alongside rather than stern-to mooring, while its general provision excludes VAT and other statutory charges from the stated fees. Water and electricity are listed separately on the marina page. Vessel category, mooring arrangement and any applicable supplements must therefore be established before treating a figure as the amount payable.

These documents were checked on 21 September 2026. The booking webpage does not state an issue date; the tariff amendment is from 2021, not a new September 2026 measure. No current berth availability or individual invoice was verified.
