Mykonos begins installing 65 fenders at the new port

Mykonos Municipal Port Fund announced on 17 September that installation of 65 fenders had begun at the island’s new port. The equipment is intended to serve both scheduled ferries and cruise ships.
The fund puts the project’s value at €3.7 million and identifies ESPA as its funding source. Its stated completion horizon is the coming December. That is a forecast for finishing the work; the announcement does not report its completion.
What the intervention addresses
The stated purpose is to reduce stresses on ships and waterfront structures during berthing. Fenders are the protective equipment at that interface, so the relevant question is how the port handles contact with arriving vessels.
This notice does not announce additional ferry services, cruise calls or passenger capacity. It also gives no timetable of berth restrictions during installation. Travellers should use their operator’s current service information for an actual departure or arrival.
