The municipal council has set support for five nurses. Its decision defines the financial commitment; staffing and the start of treatment still require separate confirmation.

The council's commitment
Mykonos Municipal Council has unanimously committed to an annual allowance of €10,000 for each of the five nurses intended to staff the dialysis unit being established at the island's Health Centre. Decision 150/2026, adopted at the meeting on 4 September, states a monthly amount of €833.33 and authorises the mayor to take the further lawful steps.
The request came from the Mykonos association of kidney patients and their supporters. The decision records the association's original proposal of €600 a month, or €7,200 a year, for each nurse. The council's final annual figure is €2,800 higher per person.
The scale of the support
For all five nurses over a full year, the stated support would amount to €50,000, compared with €36,000 under the original request. Those totals describe the scale of the commitment. They are not a record of money already paid or of a completed year of service.
The mayor's proposal describes the allowance as support for accommodation and food expenses. It connects the provision to nurses who will staff the unit and actually provide service there. The measure therefore addresses support for the personnel expected to work in the new facility.
The next operating milestones
For residents awaiting the service, the next question is how this municipal commitment translates into an operating unit. The council document itself still describes the facility as being established. It gives no date for the first treatment, does not certify that the five posts have been filled and records no start of payments.
Further official information on staffing, implementation of the allowance and the operating timetable will make it possible to assess that progress. For now, the decision establishes the amount and purpose of the municipality's support, with the delivery of the service remaining a separate milestone to verify.
