Mykonos kiosk fees: a new decision switches from income bands to location

The Municipal Committee sets €4,800 a year for Ano Mera and €8,400 for Mykonians in the reserved 30% of kiosk positions. Comparison with the June decisions shows what has changed—and what the new document does not settle.

Two amounts, defined by community

Mykonos’s Municipal Committee has approved a different way of setting the fee for the reserved 30% of kiosk positions. Its unanimous decision 223/2026, taken on 15 September and posted on the municipality’s website on 18 September, revokes its June decision 129/2026 and sets annual amounts by community: €4,800 in Ano Mera, equivalent to €400 a month, and €8,400 in the Community of Mykonians, equivalent to €700 a month.

The reasoning distinguishes Ano Mera’s relatively steadier commercial activity from the stronger seasonal visitor trade in Mykonians. These are the committee’s stated grounds for the two amounts; the document supplies no new trading survey or revenue figures.

What the June scale said

The change is more specific than a general increase or reduction. Decision 129/2026 of 19 June used four bands of the previous year’s family income: up to €5,000 meant an annual fee of €4,800; €5,000.01–€10,000 meant €8,400; €10,000.01–€20,000 meant €9,600; and income above €20,000 meant €10,800. The Council approved that scale through decision 113/2026 on 26 June.

September’s committee decision instead gives two geographical amounts, with no equivalent four-band table. The texts therefore establish a change of basis. They do not, by themselves, establish the bill for a particular operator or justify saying that everyone’s fee has fallen.

Which positions the decision concerns

The 30% refers to a defined allocation category, not a 30% discount for every kiosk. Article 13 of the municipal regulation approved in 2025 describes a reserved allocation for eligible groups, including disabled people, large families and specified categories of Cyprus veterans. It identifies three positions in that category: Tria Pigadia, Ano Mera’s peripheral road and Argyrena Dexamenes.

That regulation is background to the fee decision, not evidence that any of those positions is currently vacant or accepting applications. It also treats charges for occupied public space separately in Article 15; the annual amounts in the September decision should not be presented as an all-inclusive operating cost.

The next document to look for

The June record contains both a committee decision and subsequent Council approval. The September document explicitly revokes committee decision 129/2026; it does not expressly resolve the status of Council decision 113/2026 or name individual beneficiaries, application dates or a billing start date. No later Council decision on the revised scale was located in the municipal records checked through 21 September.
